The Wannabe League — Pool Rules

Joining the Pool

  1. Sign up with your email and password, and choose a unique pool nickname — that's the name shown on the pick sheet and standings.
  2. The buy-in is 200 points, sent to the pool administrator. Your entry is activated once the administrator records it; until then you can log in but not submit picks.

Making Picks

  1. Each week you pick every game against the Vegas spread. The home team is shown in UPPER CASE on the pick sheet.
  2. Each correct pick is worth 1 point. If a game lands exactly on the spread (a push), everyone who picked that game gets half the point value.
  3. Picks must be in by the weekly deadline (normally the first kickoff). You can edit your picks any time before the deadline — but once an individual game kicks off, that game is locked even if the deadline hasn't passed.
  4. If you miss an early game (like a Thursday game) you can still pick the rest of the slate; the started game simply locks without a pick.
  5. Spreads come from the Vegas booking line. If a line moves by 1 or more points before kickoff, the sheet is updated — so players who picked at different times may have had different lines. Games marked OFF can't be picked and don't count.
  6. Everyone's picks are hidden until the deadline. Once the sheet locks, the Pool Picks table shows every player's picks, color-coded as results come in, ranked by the week's points.

Default Picks (AutoPick)

  1. Under My Settings, every player chooses a season-long default pick strategy: favorites, underdogs, home teams, or away teams.
  2. If you miss the deadline and have AutoPick weeks remaining (limit: 3 per season), your missing picks are filled from your default strategy. Any auto pick — even for a single missed game — counts as a full AutoPick week used.
  3. A week filled by default picks cannot win the weekly prize. The points still count toward your season total.

Scoring & Tie-Breaks

  1. Standings are ranked by total points across all finalized weeks.
  2. All ties — weekly and season — are broken by Net Loss Margin (NLM): the sum of the margins your losing picks lost by against the spread, totaled across all your picks. Lowest wins. It is not tied to any specific game.
  3. After each week is finalized, a Weekly Recap is published with the winner, standings movement, spread accuracy, lopsided picks, and the pool's group accuracy.

Prizes

  1. Weekly winner: 10 points (auto-filled weeks are ineligible — see AutoPick above).
  2. Season winner: 100 points.
  3. Season runner-up: 50 points.
  4. The pot is the number of paid entries × the 200-point buy-in; current pot and prize amounts are shown on the Standings page.
